What is a Park Cabin/Park Model?
Park Cabins, also known as Park Models, are recreation vehicles primarily designed as temporary living quarters for recreation, camping or seasonal use. They are built on a single chassis, mounted on wheels and have a gross trailer area not exceeding 400 square feet in the set-up mode. (Sleeping lofts and porches are not included in this square footage restriction.)
A Park Cabin/Model is certified by the RPTIA member manufacturer as complying with ANSI A119.5. Usually 12 feet in width, Park Cabins must be transported with special movement permits from the state highway department and are usually sited in a resort or RV park location for an extended term, typically several years.
Considered an RV, Park Cabins/Models typically appear, when blocked and skirted, similar to a small cottage.
